A message from our treasurer,
The filling of Smarties tubes with 20 pence coins continue to raise funds towards the upkeep of the organ and piano, along with donations and a fundraising concert celebrating the life of our late organist, Robert Hooker. The total to date is £6,000.
The continuing fundraising for the work to be carried out on the main church roof currently stands at £25,000. Fundraising events have included concerts, coffee mornings, strawberry tea, lunches, a sponsored cycle and producing a recipe book. We have also received monetary gifts from Prestonpans Guild, £2000 from All Churches Trust and £500 from Prestonpans Community Council. In addition, we have £5,000 pledged by the Ferguson Bequest Trust and stage 1 Heritage Lottery Fund.
Earlier this year we received funding from The Baird Trust and Viridor to cover the work needed on the organ loft at the front of the church. The total cost was £30,000 including surveyor’s fees, protecting and retuning the organ and VAT. We hope to be successful claiming back the equivalent of the 20% VAT from Listed Places of Worship grant scheme.
This year we received £500 from Peter Vardy for leadership training in the Focus Youth group
We are looking to fund the automation of the Tower clock. So far, we have had donations from Prestonpans Community Council and members of the church, totalling £2,100 towards the total cost of around £6,000.
If you wish to contribute to any ongoing
fund within the church, please do not hesitate to get in touch. We continue to raise money for Youth work, Outreach, Fabric of the
buildings, flowers in the church. After every Sunday the flowers are taken to people unable to attend, the bereaved, or those feeling
under the weather.
